Mulled Wine

Raise a toast to cozy nights in with a glass of mulled wine from scratch! Crafting this warm and aromatic winter favourite is easy and enjoyable - a wonderful way to make the most of the chilly season.

Ingredients

  • 750 ml Red Wine
  • 50 ml Brandy or Cointreau
  • 35 g Brown Sugar or Demerara, up to 50 if you like it sweeter
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 Lemon
  • 7 Cloves
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 2 Star Anise

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a large pan an stir them well.
  • Turn on the heat and simmer the liquid for at least 45 minutes (up to 3 hours).
  • Filter the mulled wine through a cheese/muslin cloth.
  • Drink the mulled wine straight away by pouring it on heatproof glasses and garnish with your favourite toppings (optional), or keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days. Don't forget to warm it up before sipping your delicious homemade mulled wine!
