๐Ÿ”ช How to Make Vegan Creamy Marry Me Tofu

Step 1: Prepare the Tofu

Start by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture. This step is crucial for getting that perfect, crispy texture. Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes. Skip the pressing if you're using vacuum sealed tofu (recommended).

In a bowl mix the flour and meat-free chicken style bouillon powder, add the tofu cubes and coat them nicely in the mix.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet or deep pan over medium heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the tofu from the pan and set it aside.

Step 2: Make the Sauce

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil (or the oil from sundried tomatoes for extra flavour!). Sautรฉ the minced garlic and chopped sun-dried tomatoes until theyโ€™re soft and fragrant (about 3-5 minutes). Pour in the plant milk (or plant-based cream) and vegetable broth, and stir to combine.

Add the nutritional yeast, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Step 3: Combine and Serve

Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, coating it well with the creamy sauce. Let everything simmer together for another 3-4 minutes.

Remove the pan from the heat, sprinkle over the basil leaves and the squeeze over the juice of half a lemon. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธServing Suggestions

Serve the Vegan Marry Me Tofu with toasted bread or flat bread to dip into its rich sauce. Alternatively serve it over pasta, rice or with a side of roasted vegetables. Garnish with plenty of fresh basil or parsley, if you like, for an extra burst of flavour!

๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸณTips for the Perfect Vegan Marry Me Tofu

  • Press the Tofu: Donโ€™t skip pressing the tofu unless you are using vacuum sealed tofu! Itโ€™s essential for achieving a crispy texture that holds up well in the sauce.
  • Use Quality Ingredients: Fresh garlic, fragrant basil, good-quality sun-dried tomatoes and a tasty vegan Parmesan like this homemade one make all the difference in this recipe.
  • Go All-In with Flavours: Substitute a part of the olive oil in the recipe with the one from the sun-dried tomato jar. This infused oil will add an extra punch of flavour to the dish!
  • Customize the Heat: If you love a bit of spice, feel free to increase the amount of red pepper flakes. If not, you can skip them altogether.

๐ŸฅกStorage

To store "Marry Me Tofu," follow these steps:

  • Cool Completely: Let the dish cool down to room temperature before storing.
  • Refrigerate: Transfer the tofu and sauce to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • Freezing: If you want to freeze it, place the cooled tofu cubes and sauce in a freezer-safe container or bag. It can be frozen for up to 2-3 months.
  • Reheating: When ready to eat, thaw the marry me tofu in the refrigerator overnight if frozen. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally until heated through. You can also reheat in the microwave. Add a splash of water or broth if the sauce is too thick.
