With just a few ingredients, you can create a warm and cosy beverage that's sure to please. Whether you're having a get-together or just want a cosy night at home, this vegan glühwein is sure to bring some cheer to your day. Cheers!

How to make the Perfect Mulled Wine at Home

There's nothing simpler than crafting this all time Holiday beverage.

All you need to do is:
Combine Ingredients. In a saucepan, add all the ingredients and give them a quick stir.

Simmer. Turn on the heat on medium and heat up the liquid until it almost reaches the boil. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour (up to 3 hours for a spicier flavour).

Strain. Filter the liquid through a cheese/muslin cloth. 

Enjoy. You can drink your easy homemade mulled wine straight away by pouring it on heatproof glasses and garnish with your favourite toppings (optional). Once cool you can keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Vegan Mulled Wine Recipe

Ingredients:
750 ml Red Wine
50 ml Brandy or Cointreau
35 g Brown Sugar (or Demerara, up to 50 if you like it sweeter)
1 Orange
1 Lemon
7 Cloves
2 Cinnamon Sticks
2 Star Anise

Method:
1. Combine all ingredients in a large pan an stir them well.
2. Turn on the heat and simmer the liquid for at least 45 minutes (up to 3 hours).
3. Filter the liquid through a cheese/muslin cloth. 
4. Drink the mulled wine straight away by pouring it on heatproof glasses and garnish with your favourite toppings (optional), or keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days. Don't forget to warm it up before sipping your delicious homemade mulled wine!

  • 750 ml (25 floz) Red Wine
  • 50 ml (0.2 cups) Brandy or Cointreau
  • 35 g (3 tablespoon) Brown Sugar or Demerara, up to 50 if you like it sweeter
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 Lemon
  • 7 Cloves
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 2 Star Anise
