Have you ever wondered how easy it is to make your own liqueur that is mixed to your own perfect taste?
Well let me tell you it is really easy and needing only a few ingredients you only need to adjust a few things to create something perfect to your taste.

A little more coffee, maybe a bit or a little less sweetness the perfect liqueur is only a small mix away.

Perfect for creating the iconic espresso martini, for flavouring cakes or simply to be enjoyed pure, this coffee liqueur will be something you will have always close at hand.

A cool little fact that can prove useful to know is that if the drink is spelled liqueur instead of liquor then that means it has added sugar.
Liquor normally has nothing added and is not sweet by nature.

To make this wonderful drink you will only need 4 ingredients. As there are no long infusion times this homemade coffee liqueur will be ready to be enjoyed almost immediately!

This is one of the things I love most about this simple and versatile liqueur.

A drink that is ideal for cocktails, taken neat or used as a flavouring for desserts: I can't recommend highly enough how much this simple recipe can transform your pantry.

The next time your friends are round and you offer them a drink you will be able to smugly say when they ask you where you bought it that you in fact made it all yourself.

If you like to pamper your loved ones with homemade gifts at Christmas or other special occasions, this liqueur is a must!
It will be one of the most popular gifts, I assure you!
And the effort they will assume you made to make it will make them feel extra special, but we will know the secret. It really is quite easy.

Please note: With these ingredients you alcohol percentage for this liqueur will be 22%. If you would like it less strong, increase the amount of water, and if you want it more alcoholic, increase the amount of alcohol. You can use this handy online calculator at the bottom of the article (in Italian, but straightforward to use) to find out the alcohol content of your homemade liqueurs.

How to prepare coffee liqueur at home

STEP 1 - PREPARE THE SYRUP

First you need to prepare the syrup of water and sugar.
To make it, simply weigh the two ingredients in a saucepan and bring it to a light boil over moderate heat, stirring occasionally. Let it all boil for about 5 minutes, then turn off the stove and let it cool for a moment.

STEP 2 - ADD COFFEE

Once cooled, dissolve the instant coffee granules and vanilla in the syrup with the help of a whisk. Then we let it cool completely.

STEP 3 - ADD ALCOHOL

As soon as the coffee syrup has reached room temperature, pour in the alcohol and mix everything well.
Cover with a lid and allow to rest at room temperature overnight.

STEP 5 – BOTTLING

Transfer the coffee liqueur to sterilized bottles, then store in the fridge or pantry.
